From the
editor's desk:
Welcome to the June Edition of the Sound Exposure
Photography Club's Newsletter. As you can see, digital night has been postponed, therefore it will be print night this month.
Please bring no more than three matted but unframed prints for the meeting. And
have fun!
We hope to bring the
membership through these pages, a treasury of ideas, direction, artwork,
offerings and support. ~
Comments:
I have noticed that some
events
scheduled by other very busy members of our great club do not coincide with the
release date of our Newsletter. I
have toyed with the idea to release the Newsletter
on the first of each month instead of the 20th. Any
comments??
Remember we
are a community of photographers, and support is at the very heart of our club.
So do not hesitate to provide your suggestions on how to make our site,
newsletter or any of our other activities better for all of our member
photographers. ~

Refreshments this is a reminder for those
who volunteer to bring refreshments for the club meetings. Save Your Receipts and hand them into the club treasurer.
In addition, a note from the
Refreshment Chair; for those of you who enjoy the refreshments please donate a little $$
to help offset the clubs expense. Remember a little goes a long way. And think
about volunteering to bring in goodies.

Photographing the Lavender
Fields of Sequim. This workshop will include both classroom time and time in the field,
visiting several lavender farms in the Sequim, WA area. Classroom time will
cover equipment, exposure, composition, and problem solving. We will look at
images taken by students before the class as well as during the class. E-6
processing is available locally and we will make several runs for processing in
order to review slides. Students pay for processing at the time. Digital media
will also be supported so please bring your digital equipment, manual and
laptop. In the field, we will be taking advantage of early morning and late
afternoon light. We will begin the visits by touring the farms, discussing what
we are ‘seeing’ and how to best capture images with our photographic eye.
Students will then have time to shoot on their own, with the instructors
available for support. This workshop will take place shortly before the Sequim
Lavender Festival to take full advantage of the color and beauty.

Photographic
Techniques, Tips and Trips:
One of the great lessons any landscape photographer
can learn is to have your eye open for a picture all of the time. Do not get
caught framing one image and when finished, assume your
finished. One of my greatest images occurred when I turned around after I had
finished photographing the pretty mountain scene during a sunset. Behind me, an
unbelievable image was unfolding with the moon, deep blue and magenta skies,
trees and mood. I was concentrating so much on my mountain shot,
that I was failing to see an even more spectacular shot just over my
shoulder.
Photoshop
Tips:
Think Photoshop should do
more when it comes to Curves? It's possible for Photoshop to plot the exact
position of any color in your photograph on your curves dialog box. For a quick
reference, simply click on any area in your image. To put a more permanent marker
on the curve, hold your cursor over the color area in question, Control-Click
for PC or Command Click for Mac. A marker will appear in your curve.

Well that is
it for now.
I hope you enjoyed reading through your newsletter. I would like to reiterate
this is your club and your
newsletter. If you have any ideas to make your club a better community, please
contact any of the board members.
Photography
has always been and remains multifaceted; it tells us stories of life,
providing insight, pleasure and pain. I am always amazed at the ease in which
photography can effect emotion and connection.
It is written,
that on July 4th in 1862, as a result of a controversy surrounding copyright
issues during a recent art show, the French Court declared that photography be legally
accepted as fine art.
I want to
thank the French for their marvelous insight.
We look forward to hearing from you. ~
